This is a book of memories, in both Irish and English of Col\u00e1iste Iosag\u00e1in, Ballyvourney, as told by those who were there, with each person deciding what to say and how to say it. Some in one language, some in both.<\/p>\n
Col\u00e1iste Iosag\u00e1in, Ballyvourney began life as a selective intake, all male, preparatory school and ended as a mixed ability, co-educational secondary school. Typhoid, tuberculosis, smallpox and polio posed real threats. The introduction of electricity, television and free education utterly changed Irish society. That is the backdrop to this book. Front of stage are the Brothers, lay teachers and students who share their story with us.<\/p>\n
